The Paperboy from Eighth Street

By Joan McGlone

A boy with a troubled past.

A girl who mysteriously disappears.

Years later, a body is found…

Now, detectives must search for answers.

Young Dominic Farchione grapples with life in a small town as problems follow him. After his father’s death, his job as a paperboy unwittingly leads him to work as a runner for the mob on the harsh streets of Steubenville, Ohio. Before long,  Dominic had encountered considerable difficulties with the authorities.

Joe Perrone, a police officer passionate about boxing and life itself, is determined to help the troubled youth in town by running a disciplined boxing program. Soon, Dominic is faced with a choice: go to jail or join the team.

Lonesome neighbor Vivian Stanley is like a sister to Dominic. With an alcoholic father and a runaway mother, life isn’t easy, and Dominic promises to protect her.  When she disappears without a trace, the authorities conclude she ran away like her mother. But did she?

Many years later, a female body is discovered. Dominic feels guilty when that broken promise returns to haunt him. Now a police detective in LA, Dominic returns home to help Joe work the case. Can they figure out what happened to  Vivian that day long ago?
